Copying Schematics to Microsoft Word and other ApplicationsPurpose of This NoteThis DesignNote describes the options and formats used to export schematics from DesignWorks or LogicWorks to other application using the clipboard.
Clipboard FormatsAll current and recent versions of DesignWorks and LogicWorks on both platforms have some capability to copy an image of a schematic onto the system clipboard in one or more standard formats. Due to changes in operating systems and new features added in various versions, the support available depends on which version you are using, as summarized in this table:
Here are some notes on these formats:
ClipboardColors INI File OptionWindows versions of DesignWorks and LogicWorks starting with DesignWorks Professional 4.0d3, DesignWorks Lite 4.03, and LogicWorks 4.04 have an INI file option to force all images on the clipboard to black and white. This frequently gives better results if the final document is to be printed. This can appear in the DW.INI (DesignWorks) or LW.INI (LogicWorks) file in the [System] section, in either of these forms: ClipboardColors=Yes ClipboardColors=ToBlack If ClipboardColors=ToBlack is specified then all colors are translated to black as setting to be used for pens, brushes, etc. If this keyword is missing or an invalid option has been specified then no translation of colors will occur. Here is an example of a complete INI file with this setting added: [System] Font=Arial 10 PrinterScaleLines=All PrinterColors=Yes ClipboardColors=ToBlack [Libraries] libraryfolder=Libs [Drawing] Default_Font=9 Attribute_Font=9 Border_Font=9 MiscText_Font=9 Pin_Font=8 Symbol_Font=9 SolidGrid=on NormalScale=4 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
