Announcing DesignWorks Express!

You can design a circuit in the DesignWorks Express environment and then simply drop the design output into the free Pad2Pad.com automatic trace router. The Express version is completely free. You can upgrade to the Professional version, if needed, for more complex circuits, advanced tools and optional digital simulation.
The software is designed for small companies, educators and hobbyists to have professional software with powerful functionality and up to 4-layer boards. It’s a real breakthrough in ease-of-use and power at no cost, taking the user from concept to finished boards!
Why Use DesignWorks Express?
DesignWorks Express is a great package for:
- Drawing small schematic diagrams. As long as your design is less than 500 pins you can edit, save, print, generate Pad2Pad PCB netlists, create device symbols and use all the functions of the package for as long as you want.
- Creating designs for the free Pad2Pad PCB package from www.pad2pad.com. Export to Pad2Pad is limited to designs up to 500 pins.
- Viewing and distributing DesignWorks design files. The Express version will open, display and print any design created in DesignWorks Professional version 4 or 5. Designs over the 500 pin limit cannot be edited, but all navigation and information display functions are available. DesignWorks Express can be freely distributed to your customers and users who may wish to view DesignWorks schematics.
- Testing and evaluating DesignWorks. The Express version is limited in design size and does not contain some of the more advanced features of the Professional version (see below) but it allows you to create some small designs and get the flavor of the package. All designs created in Express are fully upward compatible to Professional when you decide to upgrade.
What’s Included in DesignWorks Express and What Isn’t?
The software included in this package is a complete, fully functional schematic drawing package based on DesignWorks Professional 5. Some items have been omitted or restricted to save download space and to allow us to give this version away for free:
- Designs can only be edited up to the limit of 500 pins. Above that, designs can be opened, viewed and printed, but not edited.
- The PDF, DXF and WMF graphics export functions are not available.
- Netlisting is limited to the one provided format for Pad2Pad.
- Scripting and customization features are not available.
- Hierarchical and multipage designs are not available except for viewing existing DesignWorks Professional schematic files.
- Various other more advanced features are not included.
- The full set of symbol libraries is not included
This package will run for 30 days from the date of installation without an access code. After that, you can register completely for free and continue to use it permanently by simply entering the access code.
